See what a colour blind sees!

When I was around 18, I had to go for a military checkup, becoz at that time military service was still mandatory in Holland. They checked my health and figured my eye-sight would cause problems: the strength of my spectacles/contacts were too high and they gave me another piece of information: I’m colour-blind.. This means that in my case, I have problems telling Red and Green apart. The whole drive back by train from Groningen to Heerenveen, I was pissed: All my life I had been taken for a fool. I thought something was green and it actually wasnt! Later I learned to accept it and even later I basically didnt care anymore :) Ofcourse you’ll figure inconvenient moments where you need to be able to see the colours and you cant. But people don’t understand. They think a colourblind person sees everything in grey or just doesnt KNOW the colours. Well, for them and for all those people that are interested in knowing what colorblind people see, this is the website to visit:

Sometimes I wonder whether Arnold Schwarzenegger is getting too old for the job. I mean, he’s a good.. erm.. well, he’s basically an actor that we all know and I’m sure he could star good in other movies than action movies as well.. Rite? I mean, there’s plenty of older actors that still perform very well in a different line of movies.. See, it’s not that I think he doesnt look good in movies and all.. His body that is :) But Computer Graphics can do a lot you know!

In case we agree on that point, I would like to ask you.. Are the movies Computer Graphics incorporated, or is this image? Your pick..

Apparently it’s already a bit late compared to other blogs, but I just saw this in the jokes section of my work’s Public Folders and thought it was absolutely hilarious! Check it out:

Italians are anti-social, corrupt and they’re traffic-maniacs according to this film:

movabletype.org : TrackBack Explanation

I think I should try and use TrackBack some more as well. Now that I know how it works, its time for me to play around with it! Nice job Movable Type guys! Like it!

Another idea: Wouldn’t it be cool to Track a post BACK to its original source/first poster?? By checking the source of the content, after which checking that source’s source and further back, you should be able to figure out the original TrackBack source right? Anybody who wrote a script for that?

Ever wanted to have a nice overview of all the DVD’s that you own? Just see all those titles’ posters besides eachother and say to yourself: “Woah! Nice collection already!”? Well, I have! :D And I had found a cool tool called DVD Profiler, but it just didnt output the display that I had in mind.. So, I made my own :)

Check it out by clicking the Movies button in the button-bar, or simply by clicking here!

Busy Life

Life is busy as you can see from the number of recent posts :) I’ve been busy, but I’ll make sure I can post every now and then. Today I’ve been extremely caught up preparing two presentations for tomorrow. Grid Computing will be taken a step further: Lots of motivation to get people to start using it. That’s what tomorrow is all about :) Some big projects to get things started here in Singapore.

Well, let’s not make everything so darn boring :) Let’s talk about more fun things to read: I’ve watched 2 new movies last Tuesday! First we had booked some tickets online for City of God or Cicade de Deus, a very interesting movie from Brazil telling the real life story of a very talented (and perhaps lucky/unlucky) photographer. Quite a good show and a very nice approach of showing the story. It took me a couple of weeks to get a chance to watch it (only Cathay Cinemas here in Singapore is showing it in ONLY 1 theatre!) but it was worth the effort.

After that we went to watch Tomb Raider 2: Cradle of Life because I had gotten premiere tickets for it through United International Pictures. Also quite fun to watch, especially knowing that it was a fellow Dutchie (Jan de Bont) who directed the show. Very nice settings once again, just like Tomb Raider 1.

Earlier that day I had gone to see the doctor about my Cholesterol. My father has some inheritable disease and I wanted to check my status, to see if I need to take any actions. About 2 years ago, everything looked totally fine: there was no need for me to change anything about my lifestyle. However, now that I’m living here in Singapore, the land of escalators, oily food and hot sun, things slightly changed. I moved my Cholesterol ratio from 4.2 all the way up to 7.1, meaning that if I don’t change anything about my lifestyle, I am very likely to get a heart-disease 10 years down the road. So the doctor advised me to take more fish (I dont like fish), less oily stuff (no more fast food like I love eating) and more exercise (I hate lifting my legs). :) As a response to this I’ve been running the past few days, eating more food and I actually climbed 11 flights of stairs last night, which I’m planning to do again tonight. It is really killing but its for my own good right? Funny how the annoying things are always so darn good for you.. ;)
